Each year, the announcement of the latest Habanos Limited Edition cigars are eagerly anticipated by Cuban Cigar fans across the planet. 2021 has been a year of evolution in the way these announcements are made, but that – paired with a delay to the traditional February reveal – has not tempered the excitement of aficionados in any way. The inaugural Habanos World Days festival brought the occasion completely online, allowing not only the usual delegates and attendees of the festival access to first-hand information, but loyal customers and devotees of Cuban brands from every country in the world. From a difficult year for everyone has sprung yet more innovation from Habanos SA.
2020 saw only one Limited Edition announced – the Partagas Legado – but 2021 sees a return to the usual trio of exciting novelties. All the tobacco for this series is selected as the best of the crop each year and is aged for at least 2 years. Production is strictly limited and boxes always become collector’s items straight away – these cigars are renowned for their aging potential, as well as their exquisite flavours when smoked immediately upon arrival, so collectors often buy 2 boxes to compare as time passes.
The Cohiba 55 Aniversario is the marquee launch for 2021
It was perhaps inevitable that, in the year it celebrates its 55th Anniversary, Cohiba would be chosen for the first of the 2021 Limitadas. The 55 Aniversario is an impressively large cigar, the Victoria vitola measuring 57 ring gauge by 150mm. It will be presented in beautifully varnished boxes of 10 cigars, decorated with the Cohiba 55 Anniversary logo in elegant gold leaf. It will look stunning in your home humidor, and doubtless make you the envy of some of your fellow brothers and sisters of the leaf.
The Monterreyes No. 4 comes in an exquisite display case
The Hoyo de Monterrey Monterreyes No.4
Only Montecristo has been chosen more often for this exclusive range of cigars than Hoyo de Monterrey, but the Monterreyes No. 4 is the first since 2013. The Maravillas No. 4 vitola used for this stick is completely new to the world of the Habano – at 55 ring gauge by 145mm, it will most likely be a popular one, allowing smokers a significant time to enjoy their favourite flavours. This maiden version will be housed in specially-produced varnished presentation cases of 10 cigars.
The Bolivar Regentes is another elegant robusto from a popular brand
In 2018, the Bolivar Soberanos was an immensely popular release. The new Bolivar Regentes will be a similar-sized robusto, and is bound to be just as well received among lovers of the brand’s full strength blend. The Discretos vitola is 52 ring gauge by 130mm in length, making it an ideal size to enjoy for an around an hour after a good meal. The special cases of 25 cigars this edition will be presented in will be ideal for those who wish to smoke a few now and lay a few down for aging.
All these Limited Edition cigars will be arriving to the market soon. Whenever cigars of this quality are released the window of opportunity to grab a box is slender, so keep your eyes on the EGM Blog for latest delivery dates.
