The Partagás Serie D No. 4 Cigar has been recognised worldwide as one of the very best Robusto cigars for sale and as of late, with the surge of interest in this particular format, the Partagás Serie D No.4 has seen an even bigger influx of interest.
PARTAGAS SERIE D NO. 4 CIGAR
Tasting notes on the Serie D No. 4 Cigar usually revolve around the brands full flavoured profile, which exhibits plenty of woody tones and explosions of spice. Expertly rolled with a flat head, the combustibility of the cigar is known to be smooth and creamy, with an excellent draw.
The Partagas Serie D No. 4 is known for its oily, golden wrapper as depicted in the photo (right).
Released as part of the Serie range in the 1980s, this cigar, as did others in the range, differed from many in the Classic range by Partagás with an even fuller flavoured profile. When the brand first released this new Serie line, there were four brand new types, the A, B, C and D. The letter would denote the thickness of the ring gauge, and the number would represent the length.
Over the years, several of these cigars have been discontinued, whereas the Partagás Serie D No.4 Cigar has consistently been in Regular Production. Recently though, Habanos S.A. introduced additional cigars to the Serie range, including the Partagas Serie D No. 5, D No. 6, E No. 2 and P No. 2, which have too proven to be very popular.

THE BRAND AND ITS HISTORY
Partagás Cigars are predominantly known for their deep and rich flavours which they have crafted since 1935, making them experts in their trade. The founder Don Jaime Partagás y Ravelo was born in Catalan, but moved to Havana in 1835 where he worked for a local business man.
The Partagas logo has been developed over the years, a more traditional one is pictured above.
Evidently inspired by his surroundings and the entrepreneur he was working for, Don Jamie established his own cigar factory La Flor de Tabacas de Partagás in 1845 and obtained several plantations in the Vuelta Abajo region, in the Pinar del Rio province; known for its tobacco growing properties.
Don Jamie’s natural flair for blending and fermenting tobacco made him a pioneer in the years in which he was director of the brand, and up until 1968 he led the way in those specific departments. In fact, some of the fermentation methods Don Jamie manufactured back then are still used today. In addition to this, legend has it that the idea to employ readers to tell stories to torcedores in factories is believed to be initiated by Don Jamie himself and is still carried out in the traditional factories of Havana.
In 1968, Don Jamie Partagás y Ravelo was unfortunately murdered on one of his plantations and his legacy was left to his son Jose Partagás. Since then, the brand has seen success in abundance and has continued to prove itself as one of the very best brands to come out of Havana.
